Through funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), Queens Library is providing its community libraries and external partners (and the wider library system as a whole) with informational, educational materials and training resources on immigration, citizenship and other immigrant-related information and services. Through this effort, Queens Library has begun educating librarians on immigrant services and importance of digital literacy, particularly for immigrant populations.
The Librarian Digital & Integration Gateway Project serves to enhance public services through informational and in-depth training on serving New Americans in the library system. This presentation will provide insight on the ongoing development and its outcomes, and how other libraries can foster integration in other library systems nationally.
