Drawing audiences from 20 to 120, these programs tapped into a community need to better understand the world and left participants demanding more from their library. Medical professionals from Cooley Dickinson Health Care teamed up to sponsor community conversations based on the NYT best-selling book, Being Mortal by Atul Gawande, MD with 15 surrounding public libraries in Western MA . The goal of the initiative was to help community members prepare for the later stages of life, as well as better understand the aging process, death & dying, and advanced care planning.
